Step 1: Change the World?
Learning Objectives
The student will:
- Differentiate between large-scale, individual-scale, and local-scale change
- Frame issues at a local, actionable scale
- Identify and select an issue that personally motivates them
Overview
The first of our 10-step “County Solutions” civic action lesson series kicks off by asking students to examine what it means to make change in the world. Students think about why people are motivated to advocate for change and what kinds of issues matter to them personally. They practice scaling issues up and down and ultimately choose an issue to work on for the rest of the project.
