María Wagoner
María Wagoner joined iCivics in 2024 as an Instructional Designer. She comes to the role with a decade of experience in education. María began her career in the classroom, teaching middle school Language Arts and Social Studies to newcomer students. Her subsequent work as a district-level instructional specialist focused on developing culturally responsive Social Studies curricula and embedded teacher support for Emergent Bilingual students. Her work in this capacity allowed her to stretch her impact beyond her district, and she had the privilege of presenting her work at both the Texas and National Council for the Social Studies conferences. She most recently served as a campus administrator for an elementary school in Irving, Texas.
In her personal time, María is a competitive powerlifter. She also enjoys cooking, writing, and listening to history podcasts.
